Date : May 10th, 2018

Timings: 4.30 pm-7.00 pm

Yogoda Satsanga Dhyana Kendra, Bengaluru conducted a special event on May 10th, 2018 from 4.30 pm am to 7.00 pm, on the occasion of Avirbhav Anniversary of our Paramaguru Sri Sri Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri.

The first session started at 4:30 pm, The Mandir was beautifully decorated and a majestic photo of  Sri Sri Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri was placed, much to the delight of the devotees entering the mandir. This was followed by Arati, opening prayer: Brahmanandam and chant : “O my saint, wake yet wake” , “Night has flown, dawn has come” were sung. These chants were specifically selected as they are translations of our Paramguru Sri Yukteswar Giri ji's favourite chants that he often chanted. After these soulful chants, devotees meditated for 40 minutes.

In the next session, the leader read out the following excerpts from the book: “Autobiography of Yogi” by our Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda, from the sections dedicated to his Guru, below is the small brief of what was read:

Swami Sri Yukteswar was born on May 10,1855, at Serampore in Bengal, India. Sri Yukteswar was a disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya and attained the spiritual stature of a Jnanavatar, or incarnation of wisdom.Sri Yukteswar recognized that a synthesis of the spiritual heritage of the East with the science and technology of the West would do much to alleviate the material, psychological, and spiritual suffering of the modern world.  These ideas were crystallized by his remarkable encounter with Mahavatar Babaji, the guru of Lahiri Mahasaya, in 1894.

Outwitting the Stars

CHAPTER 16

“Mukunda, why don’t you get an astrological armlet?” “Should I, Master? I don’t believe in astrology.”

“It is never a question of belief; the only scientific attitude one can take on any subject is whether it is true. The law of gravitation worked as efficiently before Newton as after him. The cosmos would be fairly chaotic if its laws could not operate without the sanction of human belief”.

“Charlatans have brought the stellar science to its present state of disrepute. Astrology is too vast, both mathematically1 and philosophically, to be rightly grasped except by men of profound understanding. If ignoramuses misread the heavens, and see there a scrawl instead of a script, that is to be expected in this imperfect world. One should not dismiss the wisdom with the ‘wise”.

Concluding session:

After the reading, the chant: “ In the temple of silence”, “Om Sri Yukteshwar-I will sing thy name” was sung. The session concluded with praying for others, healing prayer and closing prayer, followed by prasad distribution with the chant “ Hey Bhagawan” sung in the background.
