A God-Centered Class Every Sunday
A typical Children's Satsanga class is approximately 2 hours, from 10.15am to 12.15pm every Sunday. The classes follow Guruji’s emphasis for balanced development of body, mind and spirit, and so include energization exercises, chanting & meditation and discussion & activities to deliver a God-centered class.
Below is an illustrative example of the schedule of a typical Primary class (6-10 yrs):
- Pre-class activity - as everyone gathers, crafts and so on (15-30 mins)
- Energization exercises (15 mins)
- Pranami (2 mins)
- Opening prayer (2 mins)
- Chanting and Meditation (followed by visualization) and Affirmation (10-20 mins)
- Main Theme Activity (30-45 mins)
- Cleaning up & Healing Service (5 mins)
- Prasad Distribution (5 mins)
Age-appropriate Class Formats
All classes use age-appropriate stories, activities and prayers to allow children to develop a personal relationship with God and to help them lead a balanced life. Below are some of the unique features of each class format.
Primary Group (6-10 years)
- Meditation for about 1-2 minutes, followed by main activity
- Conveying ideas in a very simple language that they understand
- Using stories from Guruji's teachings to explain spiritual qualities and concepts
- Art or any relevant activity like role play, giving a clue (to practice what they learnt)
- Suggesting with love or making a game out of it
Pre Teen Group (11-13 years)
- Meditation for about 10-15 minutes
- Conveying the theme briefly in an interesting way - through role plays, puzzles
- Highlighting examples from Guruji's teachings and engaging children via discussion
- Helping them to clarify their understanding
- Exploring how to apply these insights and principles in their lives
- Supporting their efforts to apply the teachings by giving them goal sheets and following up the next week to reflect on progress and insights
Teen Group (14+ years)
- Meditation for about 20-25 minutes followed by group discussion
- Explore Guruji’s teachings from Man’s Eternal Romance, Divine Romance, Autobiography, God Talks with Arjuna, Only Love, etc.
- Probing, questioning and concluding as a team
- Children will figure out takeaways and ideas that they want to practice
- Sharing and reflecting on the previous week, guided by a facilitator
Since most teens are busy with their coaching classes and board exam preparation, there is a time constraint for them to travel all the way to kendra to attend Childrens' Satsanga. A special online satsanga is conducted for them to learn and apply the teachings of Gurudeva. Pre-teens and teens are given an open choice to choose between attending online classes or participating in group meditation in the main mandir.
Family Room
A family room is also set up for parents of very small children who cannot participate in group meditation. This allows parents to be with their kids while also being attuned with Guruji.
